Den seneste dev version af Google Chrome browseren byder på HTML5 speech input API. Hvilket betyder tekst kan indtales fremfor indtastes.

Vi kender alle Google Voice Search til Android, der tillader brugeren at indtale beskeder, søge efter ting eller navigere til udvalgte steder, kun ved hjælp af sin stemme. Nu er denne funktion også kommet til computerens internet browser via HTML5.

Funktionen afvikles via <input type=”text” x-webkit-speech /> der frembringer en tekst form, men med en lille mikrofon der kan klikkes på for, at indtale en besked.

Fordelen ved stemme input kan være mange, især hvis man tænker på Facebook, Twitter og andre sider hvor meget af indholdet drives af små statusopdateringer. Disse ville i teorien i fremtiden kunne indtales, fremfor indtastes.

• Lots of progress filling in missing features on Mac and Linux. Random samples:
  • Linux: HTTP authentication now works.

  • Mac: You can download more than one item in a tab.

• The –enable-monitor-profile flag converts web pages from sRGB to your current default monitor profile. It does not handle embedded color profiles in images. (Issue 4938)
• The ‘Print selection’ option on the Print dialog works on Windows. (Issue 1682)

Known issues:

• You cannot drag bookmarklets (javascript: URLs) to the bookmarks bar. (Issue 12290)
• When you install an extension, two separate toolstrips appear.  The problem will go away when you restart the browser. (Issue 14941)
